Worldview Weekend
The Worldview Weekend was an incredible time of hearing well known speakers, such as Josh McDowell and Dr. David Noebel, talk about the liberal, socialist, and secular mindsets of our country and the world today in light of a conservative Christian worldview. McDowell started off the conference by a passionate rebuke of the postmodern, politically correct, non-judgmental view of our culture. He stated that the most popularly quoted verse in America used to be John 3:16, but has now changed to Matthew 7:1, which states, "Do not judge, or you too will be judged." McDowell explained how this verse's meaning has been misconstrued well beyond anything resembling its original meaning. He related this talk to the terrorist attacks, which many quickly declared "evil" and "wrong." McDowell pointed out emphatically that we, as a nation, have lost our right to judge things as being right and wrong because we have succumbed to the mindset of relative morality. Therefore we cannot judge the terrorist acts as being wrong.
Now do not mistake his message. His message is that, yes the terrorist attacks are wrong. In fact, many things in life are wrong. But we have, as a culture, fallen to a false idea that truth is internal and there is no absolute right and wrong. Therefore, by those standards, we cannot judge the terrorists. McDowell's speech was an passionate call for our nation to turn away from relative morality and accept that certain things are absolutely wrong, and certain things are absolutely right. It does not depend on what someone believes or thinks about such things. A belief does not make something right or wrong. Something is right or wrong independent of what someone thinks about it. The terrorist attacks were wrong even though the terrorists thought that what they were doing was right.
Other speakers went on to speak on the falsehoods of evolution, a conservative Christian view towards politics, the wonderful wisdom of the Founding Fathers, and other philosophical and sociological topics such as these. It was very informative and inspiring.
MNYAF had a booth at the Worldview Weekend and we actively recruited people. Pictures are below. It was a great time talking to the different people at the conference. We recommend that anyone who can make it attend the conference next year. Check out the Worldview Weekend website for more info.
